Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) is a graduate degree course in Ayurvedic system. This degree is awarded after the completion of 5 years and 6 month degree programme containing the 4 and 1/2 year academic session and one year internship programme with live practical.
The five and half year’s undergraduate course provides skills in ayurvedic clinical practice and helps understanding modern science as well. However, the syllabus of BAMS course is like an integrated degree, which includes teachings of ayurvedic as well modern medicines,
The BAMS course is conducted according to the rules and regulation of the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi.
After pass out of 12th class with science subject. The essential subjects in 12th class are Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Admission is based on the rank obtained in the entrance examination conducted by various board/universities in states of India.

Human Anatomy including dissection & complete modern anatomy
Toxicology, Medical Jurisdiction And Forensic Science
Pathology & Microbiology
Preventive and Social Medicine (Community Medicine) & Yoga
Obstetrics and Gynecology
Internal Medicine (Including Psychiatric Disorders, Rejuvenation & Aphrodisiac Science)
Diseases of Head & Neck, Ophthalmology (Eye), ENT & Dentistry
Ayurvedic body Detoxification procedures.
After completing 1 year internalship training to gain skills in diagnosis and treatment, one can start his own clinic. This option is always available for every BAMS degree holder. Now doctors are very interested in practicing with senior physicians to get more experience and also many of them are going for the post graduation course.
